2016 Founders' Vines Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills

THE STORY
It all started with a pioneering vision to grow world-class Pinot Noir in a remote coastal region of California that was long considered far too cool to ripen wine grapes. Fortunately, the founders, Michael Benedict and Richard Sanford had the determination and perseverance in establishing the Sanford & Benedict Vineyard in 1971. As the stewards of this iconic property, we have tremendous respect for what these partners accomplished, and from one of the original, own-rooted plantings of Pinot Noir, we are proud to share the 2016 Founders’ Vines Pinot Noir, the sixth vintage of our most prestigious, and limited wine.
WINEMAKER NOTES
We selected just 3 barrels for this savory, and singular wine. The 2016 is decidedly sweet and savory on the nose revealing saffron, rose water, chanterelles, and star anise. The suave palate displays a very ethereal frame to this elegant vintage of Founders’ Vines.
