2017 Founders' Vines Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills
It all started with a pioneering vision to grow Pinot Noir in a remote coastal region of California that was long considered far too cool to ripen grapes. Fortunately, the founders, Michael Benedict and Richard Sanford had determination and perseverance in establishing the Sanford & Benedict Vineyard in 1971. As the stewards of this iconic property, we have tremendous respect for what these partners accomplished, and from one of the original, own-rooted, plantings of Pinot Noir, we are privileged to share the 2017 Founders’ Vines Pinot Noir.
Elegant and ethereal, with mineral and savory notes that make wines from this site so distinctive. The suave palate displays a very ethereal frame to this elegant vintage of The Founders'. Rose water, strawberries, and star anise develop in the glass, but above all else, The Founders is a wine of nuance and total class. This delicate wine pairs well with lighter dishes and has the backbone to stand up to heartier fare as well.
